Kathleen owns and operates THE LEGAL DOC a dynamic legal and technology service center, and prepares and processes legal documents for attorneys and self-representing court users. Kathleen has vast experience having worked in different law firms and in many different areas of the law since 1976. Kathleen has held positions as a law clerk, performing research, and as a firm administrator. Kathleen retired from the law firm of McDonough Holland & Allen in early 2005 and registered as a Legal Document Assistant soon thereafter. Kathleen works as a “dual” professional actively working both as a paralegal and as an LDA.
Since 2004, Kathleen has provided software training and support as an IC with Azure Training, providing IT Rollout Project Management, Training, and Floor Support services to firms and businesses with emphasis on Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2010, Microsoft Office 2013, Microsoft Office 2016, and Office 365.
Kathleen is also a registered and bonded Process Server with 30 years of experience serving legal documents.
In 2009, Kathleen’s eleventh-hour discovery of California’s proposed AB 590 resulted in significant amendments to the bill which, absent the amendments, would have effectively outlawed the LDA profession and drastically limited the rights of consumers to choose non-attorney alternatives including LDAs and unbundled legal services.
